Breaffy House Resort
As a parent, the search for that perfect family staycation feels never ending. That is until August 2017 when we stayed in the Breaffy House Resort.
Travelling from Dublin to Mayo can seem like a long journey but now that we know what is awaiting us at the the Breaffy Hotel that journey will forever be easier.
Our reservation was in the Breaffy Woods Hotel. It is 2 minutes walk from the Breaffy House Hotel and the walk over is stunning, more on the grounds below. The staff were amazing, went completely out of their way to help us as my dad had booked us in with my husbands name! *Insert eye roll here* . We made our way to the room it was the most spacious room I have ever stayed in. A double bed and a single bed for our 9 year. On the table in the room it contained a welcome pack for our daughter. How thoughtful and she was so excited that they had thought of her. After we unpacked for our 2 night stay, not forgetting to put teddy on the bed, we went to explore the hotel.
Beside the Woods Hotel is a playground. This was spotted as the car was parked. It is small but kept all the children happy for about an hour. There is also a Fairy Village that has popped up around the pond that surrounds the resort. It is just an added touch that gets children so excited at the thoughts of finding the fairies.
Over at Breaffy House is another playground and an outdoor seating area to enjoy a glass of wine or coffee while the children are playing. And just in case you happen to own a helicopter, they have a helipad !
The first evening, the dinner was part of the package that we booked. There were 9 adults and 10 children with us for dinner, yes it was a little crazy, but the set menu had something to please all of us. The staff were exceptional with us a large group and they could not have been more helpful for everyone of us.
This is the main reason, in the past few months that I have and will continue to recommend the Breaffy House Resort. The ages in our group ranged from 66 to 1. Each evening in the summer, the Woods Bar on the first floor in the Woods Hotel have Family Entertainment from 6pm to 9pm. Movie time or Magician from 6pm to 7.30pm and from 7.30pm until 9pm a Kids Disco with games and dancing for all the children. It is laid out perfectly. The dance floor is located at the end of the bar, away from the door. Its open plan, no high alcoves or anything.
Also there is a smoking area on the balcony so adults don’t have to go downstairs and out to the front of the hotel. On both evenings, we were in the Woods bar until after 11pm with the children playing and having fun. Being allowed to run around and play games. Completely family friendly. Happy children = Happy parents.
They have a pancake machine. A pancake machine that children as young as 4 were able to use with no help from Mam or Dad. So again happy parents eating their breakfast while still hot. If you are staying in the Woods Hotel, you are welcome to dine in the House for breakfast which we did on our first morning.
Daily Kids Entertainment
Every morning there is a breakfast train from 9am, collecting your child from your hotel room. Kids club is on until 1pm when Pool Splash Time starts when a parent must be in the swimming pool for the hour.
Children are allowed in the swimming pool from 9am until 7.30pm daily. The pool is twice the size of other hotel pools we have stayed in Ireland. There is a kids pool and 2 or more lifeguards at any time we were there over the 3 days.
