Breaffy House Resort Stay

Breaffy House Resort

As a parent, the search for that perfect family staycation feels never ending. That is until August 2017 when we stayed in the Breaffy House Resort.
Travelling from Dublin to Mayo can seem like a long journey but now that we know what is awaiting us at the the Breaffy Hotel that journey will forever be easier.

Checking in

Our reservation was in the Breaffy Woods Hotel. It is 2 minutes walk from the Breaffy House Hotel and the walk over is stunning, more on the grounds below. The staff were amazing, went completely out of their way to help us as my dad had booked us in with my husbands name! *Insert eye roll here* . We made our way to the room it was the most spacious room I have ever stayed in. A double bed and a single bed for our 9 year. On the table in the room it contained a welcome pack for our daughter. How thoughtful and she was so excited that they had thought of her. After we unpacked for our 2 night stay, not forgetting to put teddy on the bed, we went to explore the hotel.

The Grounds

Beside the Woods Hotel is a playground. This was spotted as the car was parked. It is small but kept all the children happy for about an hour. There is also a Fairy Village that has popped up around the pond that surrounds the resort. It is just an added touch that gets children so excited at the thoughts of finding the fairies.

Over at Breaffy House is another playground and an outdoor seating area to enjoy a glass of wine or coffee while the children are playing. And just in case you happen to own a helicopter, they have a helipad !

The first evening, the dinner was part of the package that we booked. There were 9 adults and 10 children with us for dinner, yes it was a little crazy, but the set menu had something to please all of us. The staff were exceptional with us a large group and they could not have been more helpful for everyone of us.

Evening Entertainment

This is the main reason, in the past few months that I have and will continue to recommend the Breaffy House Resort. The ages in our group ranged from 66 to 1. Each evening in the summer, the Woods Bar on the first floor in the Woods Hotel have Family Entertainment from 6pm to 9pm. Movie time or Magician from 6pm to 7.30pm and from 7.30pm until 9pm a Kids Disco with games and dancing for all the children. It is laid out perfectly. The dance floor is located at the end of the bar, away from the door. Its open plan, no high alcoves or anything.

Also there is a smoking area on the balcony so adults don’t have to go downstairs and out to the front of the hotel. On both evenings, we were in the Woods bar until after 11pm with the children playing and having fun. Being allowed to run around and play games. Completely family friendly. Happy children = Happy parents.

They have a pancake machine. A pancake machine that children as young as 4 were able to use with no help from Mam or Dad. So again happy parents eating their breakfast while still hot. If you are staying in the Woods Hotel, you are welcome to dine in the House for breakfast which we did on our first morning.

Daily Kids Entertainment

Every morning there is a breakfast train from 9am, collecting your child from your hotel room. Kids club is on until 1pm when Pool Splash Time starts when a parent must be in the swimming pool for the hour.

Leisure Centre

Children are allowed in the swimming pool from 9am until 7.30pm daily. The pool is twice the size of other hotel pools we have stayed in Ireland. There is a kids pool and 2 or more lifeguards at any time we were there over the 3 days.

Maybelline Tattoo Brow Gel Tint Review

posted in: Beauty | 0

Maybelline Tattoo Brow

Gel tint Tattoo Brow was everywhere, YouTube, Instagram and being a beauty addict I needed to try it. Not that I actually needed to buy it as I have all the Professional Tinted Brow Products at home, market research thats the reason the husband got anyway. It seems like a quick fix for the in between trip to your beautician.

Science Bit

Every beauty product claims to be the next amazing thing since sliced bread so here is why Maybelline say about this…

Maybelline Tattoo Brow is a game-changing peel-off gel-tint that leaves brows perfectly defined and evenly filled for up to 3 days. Enriched with Royal Jelly & Aloe Vera, brows are left tinted and conditioned, gradually and evenly fading over time.

How to use it?

At first I found it a bit tricky. Lets just say the below pictures were the second attempt.

Firstly and most importantly you will need to tame those brows. I used the end of my L.A.Girl Brow Pencil cause why not. Using the other end of the brow pencil to mark out the start, middle and end of the brows. Just to be sure that you do not end up with a blob of dye on your face.

Then carefully apply the gel to the brow. The first time it was too light so as you can see in the pictures I applied it generously.

Then wait. Maybelline advise that you leave it to dry for 20 minutes. For best results, leave it on for 2 hours. Not very practical in real life. For these pictures the tint was on 45 minutes.

Does it work for a perfect Brow?

Yes. See above for the results. When I bought the Tattoo Brow, Boots only had Light Brown or Medium Brown. I used Medium Brown.

What I liked…

After 45 minutes it looked as though my brows had been tinted professionally.

Price Tag…

And this is where the is it worth it comes to mind! It is €16.99 in Boots and for a small amount of product it is expensive. BUT and I really mean BUT….. As stated above this is a stop gap. When heading out somewhere and want ‘Brows on Fleek’ and can’t get them professionally done then this is a go to product. Expensive but very useful to have in your makeup bag. Boots always have some kind of promotion on makeup so you are sure to get some kind of a bargain when buying the Tattoo Brow gel tint.

Cosy Winter Interior Inspirations

posted in: Lifestyle | 0

As the Winter is now upon us, I don’t know about you but to us it means earlier nights and snuggling on the sofa watching our favourite movies. As soon as all the Christmas decorations start to arrive to stores I start to make our sitting room and bedroom a feeling of warmth as soon as you walk into it. So instead of getting a new sofa or bedroom furniture think of the small interior changes you can make.

Winter Wardrobe Essentials

posted in: Fashion | 0

Something that many of us struggle with is their everyday winter wardrobe. Forever buying separates and having no outfits, just a wardrobe full of random pieces.

So we have put together 5 Essential staples with 2 choices that will help turn those random pieces turn into outfits without much thought.

1. Faux Leather Jacket

This is the perfect jacket to have all year round. It is light enough for Spring evenings and using for layering in Winter.

2. Black Skinny jeans

These are a must have in Winter. Casual wear and for nights out, Jeans and a nice top outfit. I have always bought Molly Jeans from River Island but this year I tried the Joni Jeans from Topshop and I am converted. Both are between €50 and €60 but it is worth it. You will have them until this time next year.

3. Cable Knit Jumper

You know its Autumn when all the shops start to stock the knitwear. Choosing a winter knit can be overwhelming, all the styles and colours but with a cream or oatmeal cable knit jumper you can put it over a dress, team it with your favourite skirt or wear with jeans.

4. Black Ankle Boots

A must. Black musts are definitely a need when it comes to a winter wardrobe. From trousers to dresses they will go with just about everything. Add tights for skirts or dresses and skinny jeans for a more comfortable look.

5. Top handle bag , too many layers for over the shoulder bag

And finally, the bag. I love bags. I have often bought a bag and built a whole outfit around it. It is one of the first things I think of when putting an outfit together, and then shoes. As the rest just follows then. These 2 bags are perfect for daily use and also for a night time look.

My bank balance was badly damaged while researching this for you all.

Let me know if you purchase any of these.

*Some of the above links are affiliate. This means that if you buy the jumper from New Look you pay the exact same price as in store or if you found it yourself online but I get about 20c. Thats all. Not hundreds of Euro. If you don’t want to use the links just go to the sites and search using my description.
